PROFILAGE RACIAL: UNE PLAINTE OFFICIELLE DÉPOSÉE CONTRE LA VILLE DE LONGUEUIL

Une plainte d’outrage au tribunal a été déposée contre la Ville de Longueuil, qui n’aurait pas respecté les délais demandés pour recenser les cas de profilage racial et de former tous ses policiers selon des critères bien précis.
Cela fait maintenant deux ans que cela n’aurait pas été fait.
«Ce n’est pas que ça n’a pas été fait, c’est qu’on a changé notre système d’évaluation. On est sur le bon chemin à Longueuil, mais je pense qu’il y a encore du travail à faire», s’est défendu l’ex-chef du service de police de Longueuil, Fady Dagher.
Des excuses qui ne semblent satisfaire Joel DeBellefeuille, plaignant à l’origine de cette affaire. L’homme dit avoir été victime de profilage racial, lui qui a été arrêté à de nombreuses reprises tout simplement pour avoir été derrière le volant d’une voiture de luxe.
«Ça fait 15 ans que je me fais profiler et chaque jour, chaque semaine, d’autres gens se font profiler. Et c’est le temps d’arrêter, nous sommes en 2023», a affirmé M. DeBellefeuille en entrevue.
