Longueuil, Que., given ultimatum on release of race-based traffic stop data

A group seeking to end racial profiling is giving the City of Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore, until the end of day Friday to publish race-based data on police stops. If not, the leader of the Red Coalition says he'll take the city to court. Red Coalition takes legal action against city of Longueuil and police force

Brice Dossa said he was "humiliated" and discriminated against after Montreal police officers handcuffed him for the theft of a car that ended up being his, and then didn't have the key to uncuff him. Police detention criticized as racial profiling
on November 4th, 2022
The SPVM has declared an investigation closed regarding a filmed incident in a mall parking lot involving an SPVM officer temporarily detaining a Black man on suspicion of vehicle theft, cuffing him and then having to wait for a key to uncuff the man. But the incident is being criticized as a possible example of racial profiling. The video shows the Black man angrily saying he was mistreated, and asking if he was detained because he is Black. The officers deny this is the case. "Are you injured, you're not injured," an officer says in the video.  Read More
